**Where patients are lost along the way**.

Retention rate may sound abstract, but in everyday practice it means one thing above all: do patients stay, or do they drop out? And this is exactly where reality shows, while the focus is often on recruitment, there is frequently not enough capacity in day-to-day operations to truly support patients continuously. And that’s precisely where drop-outs occur.

**Screening completed… and then? Silence.**

A promising patient is identified, screening goes well, but then: appointments are canceled, questions remain unanswered and the next visit doesn’t take place.

And suddenly, the entire search starts all over again.

**In daily practice, it quickly becomes clear:**

Patient recruitment does not end with screening. As soon as patients drop out, it means:

🔄 additional screening cycles
🔄 repeated informed consent discussions
🔄 loss of time for the entire study team
🔄 increasing costs per enrolled patient

And in the worst case: delays in the entire study timeline

**Patients rarely drop out for just one reason**

Much more often, it’s a combination of small factors throughout the entire recruitment process, from communication and pre-screening to follow-up after screening. In everyday study operations, the focus is understandably on identifying suitable patients. But the real difference is often made afterward: through continuous engagement, clear communication, and structured support. Because successful recruitment doesn’t end with screening, it spans the entire process through to final enrollment.

**Our approach at Camovis: Structure that keeps patients engaged**

With our Camovis Recruitment Service, we take over key parts of the entire recruitment process and provide support exactly where capacity is lacking:

- targeted identification of suitable patients
- structured, study-specific pre-screening
- active support and follow-up through to final enrollment

This is how we create continuity across the entire patient journey, from initial identification to successful enrollment, helping reduce dropouts and sustainably improve patient retention.

Successful patient recruitment is not measured at screening but by how many patients actually stay in the study until the end.
